Tour de Fat 2008
A bike parade 300+ strong, some great performances by Paper Bird, March Fourth and the Sprockettes, and lots of beer and friendly folks. New Belgium's Tour de Fat was a good time -- despite 100+ degree temps!

Sunday Parkways -- Portland, Oregon || 22 June 2008
Check out peoples' stories at www.portlandonline.com/transportation/index.cfm?c=46103&a... Also, a bunch of great media links in the sidebar at the same URL. What is Sunday Parkways? 6 miles, 6 hours, zero traffic~! o A circular route of city streets open to walk, bike, run, jump & skip - without having to watch out for cars! o A 6 mile "temporary park", connecting North Portland neighborhoods and residents. o A relaxed, non-competitive, FREE event featuring a variety of activities in 4 parks and along the route. The Portland Event Sunday Parkways came to Portland on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Six miles of local streets in North Portland were closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Intersections were staffed by volunteers allowing residents to get to and from their driveways, but all were encouraged to limit their motor vehicle use during the event. The circular route gave Portlanders a chance to get out and be active right in their own neighborhood. Participants walked, biked, ran, strolled, and roller bladed along the route to activities in the parks as well as to nearby shops and businesses in the vicinity. www.portlandonline.com/transportation/index.cfm?c=46103
