Smile Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten

Not only do y'all West Siders have your own forum but one of your county commissioners posts pro-bike stuff to BikePortland! How cool is that?

Schouten seems to have some genuine interest in advances and improvements that could be made by developing better conditions for biking close at home, and beyond. He does seem to listen and think about the pros and cons of ideas that bike enthusiastic places like Netherlands and Copenhagen have used.

I'm hoping he may be able to ferret out some answers to issues chip-seal road surfacing poses to enjoyable biking here in Washington County. And maybe help to come up with some way to mitigate the rough riding surface chip-seal particularly presents to bike use. I guess chip seal is better than potholes, but hopefully, both extremes can be minimized.
