Default Visiting Portland

Hello PDX bike peoples!

I'll be visiting Portland for a couple weeks in September and had a few inquiries.

I am attending UBI, taking frame building classes. I am able to take the time off of work but not with pay. So I'm curious if there would be any part time, temporary positions out there. I'm a bike mechanic and would prefer something along those lines but I'm open to most anything to make a little bit of extra cash. It's probably a long shot but figured I'd see what is out there.

Also, relating to the lack of funds, I'm weighing my options for a bike up there. I would rather just ship my own bike but the cheapest shipping I could find is about $75, each way. A friend pointed me to a bike rental company. That looks like a decent arrangement but it's also a bit more expensive at $90/week.

Would anybody have a spare bike to loan or rent at a cheaper rate? Maybe trade for mechanic duties on your stable? I ride 52-54 road (preferred) or 16-18" hybrid.

Any help, advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at https://www.spinlister.com/? Also, try posting your message on the Shift list (https://lists.riseup.net/www/info/shift). Good luck and I hope you enjoy UBI!

Thanks Alan!

Had never heard of either of those sites before but Spin Lister looks promising. Saw a few potential offers already. Might look into putting some of my bikes up for rentals when I get back.
