i think Ron's got it sussed - I'd go I-205 path to Springwater to Gresham-Fairview trail to Halsey bike lanes to Troutdale. I'm sure you've got a good bright front light or 2, because it's dark out...

L Dr. - also realized that the Lane County bike map (http://ecomm.lanecounty.org/Store/Item.aspx?Item=5) shows this route quite well - along with lots of other intruiging possibilities.

also, you might want to check a Siuslaw National Forest map - it shows paved roads, and much of the area along the coast north of Coos Bay would be shown on that map. Probably give you some good...

Love Dr., if you want to head out the coast further south, then you could follow the Willamette Valley Scenic bikeway (http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/BIKE/WVSB_main.shtml) or something like it...

great to see the collider - though pretty much as i imagined it, and i'm not blessed with a great imagination. That's got to be the most stultifying 27km bike path in the world. But, hey, no traffic!
