Psy, I don't think snow is a concern in the coast range until December. The passes are pretty low - like sub-2k feet.

Mark, Spiffy's correct, it is indeed public - but the Schnitz and the PAC doubtless have agreements to use it for events, close the street, and maybe even bust the chops of interloping cyclists.

spif, I think the crossing of the I-205 path at Division is just an audible warning for bikes/peds and a yellow flash for motorists. a HAWK actually stops traffic with a red. but it may have changed...

i think Ron's got it sussed - I'd go I-205 path to Springwater to Gresham-Fairview trail to Halsey bike lanes to Troutdale. I'm sure you've got a good bright front light or 2, because it's dark out...

L Dr. - also realized that the Lane County bike map (http://ecomm.lanecounty.org/Store/Item.aspx?Item=5) shows this route quite well - along with lots of other intruiging possibilities.

also, you might want to check a Siuslaw National Forest map - it shows paved roads, and much of the area along the coast north of Coos Bay would be shown on that map. Probably give you some good...
