That's just one simple facet of "value".
In our effort as a society to say that "everyone is important" and that "any unique individual is irreplaceable" we have painted ourselves in to a "taboo corner" where we can't talk about the acutal dollar value lost when a person is impacted by the unintentional mistakes of drivers.
Because a person's life is irreplaceable it is priceless and essentially monetarily valueless.
With your example of the deer and mine of organ sales (NPR news segments are educational) we see a price for commerce; prosecution is easier because definite dollar value can be shown to be lost.
It is quite sad that what I'm saying is functionality true: A=B=C
() Human life has no monetary value
() law only values monetary loss
() therefore human life has no value.
