We'll be meeting at Clever Cycles, June 16th at 11 am (that's a Sunday). Pregnant women, new moms, dads and dads-to-be (if they bring their pregnant partners or a child, or wear a pillow under their shirts) also welcome.

After thinking it over, we've decided what pregnant women need to know most is how to keep pedaling when they have a little one. We've asked Katie Proctor with Kidical Mass to do a short workshop on how to keep even small children safe while riding. Get realistic information about the safety of riding with an infant or toddler and how you might outfit your own set of wheels to welcome your new addition on board. We'll start with that, and then do a mini tour of the small parks with playgrounds in the neighborhood.

On June 16th, I will be 7 months pregnant, and as the ride leader you can imagine, the ride won't be going very fast. Parents are encouraged to bring children, and we'll finish up at some ice cream or dessert place.

BYOP (Bring your own pickles)

Any help getting the word out is much appreciated!

Excellent, clear footage of a crash test dummy hitting an opening door, followed by four real-life clips of actual doorings. (I hope the second guy lived.) Hopefully everyone here avoids that danger already, but this is a good reminder and provides a compelling lesson to ride clear of the door zone to anyone who doesn't already know better. It's not gory but it is violent.

(A driver's-side door hit throws the rider leftward into the adjacent car lane where he/she lands on their back with the back of their cranium striking the paving, and in a position subject to being hit by vehicles.)

TriMET stops at the stop sign and 2 cars stop at their stop signs. Two, count them, *2* drivers motion me to cross. Just after I set one foot into the crosswalk I get buzzed by a bicyclist that came up behind me and turned right, literally right in front of me. Hauling ass, did not slow down, did not say anything or look back when I called him a fucking asshole...

I seriously plead for all of you byclicsts that run stop signs, please do it against oncoming motor vehicle traffic until you make terminal contact with something. We really do not need you polluting the gene pool. At least you idiots aren't behind the wheel, because we all know you drive just as poorly in cars.

TLDR: White dude wearing "the shit" ie, skintight racing gear, cutsy little mini-backpack so he can stay aerodynamic, sunglasses.
License plate? NONE.
Any consideration for other people? NONE.
Location? I have fucking lost count this week.

This is along NB 158th from Walker toward Cornell today, May 1st, 2013 at about 2:45PM.

This lame-brained driver parked in the bike lane at the light at Walker (no passenger exchange) to keep me from getting up to the light (not that I'd ride to the right of a bus anymore anyway), and when he/she proceeded, rode continuously in the bike lane until the bus disappeared over the hill right before Cornell. Caught this short video of just what I was looking at.

You: riding peacefully along with a child on a trail-a-bike, WB on Hewett Blvd. Thursday, 4/25/13 at 6:30 pm., making me envious.

Me: speed freak who rode behind you for a bit then blew past you just after the last good swoopy turn. I hope I didn't seem too jerk-like.

Maybe this is weird, but while I was following you, my handlebar camera got a good minute or so of what looked like an awesome father-son time. I still need to trim that clip out of the rest of my footage, but if you would like it, just send me a message describing your helmets and trail-a-bike (that's all I got a good look at) and I can get it to you somehow.

Meet up 1 pm / Roll out 1:30 PM

Brand-new for 2013: Montavilla Manses! Meet up Saturday 27 April at ~1 PM in the parking lot of Milepost 5 (NE 81st north of Oregon) for a tour around Montavilla and the Frazer Park area: Milepost 5, a Terry Gilliam extravaganza, some sweet 1920s farmhouses, a bunker home, a grotto, plus parquet palaces and WTF dwellings and, because it's Spring, some art gardens (dinosaurs and elves)! This easy, slow, laid-back ride (~ 8 miles max) is mostly fun with not so much edification; ends at the Laurelwood NE for beer and nosh (bring some cash). Let's ride!
